What to do this week in Big Bear

All week:  They say a bad day of fishing beats a good day of work! Here is a list of the best places to fish in Big Bear in no particular order:

  • East Ramp
  • West Ramp
  • Near the Big Bear Marina
  • The triangle from Big Bear Marina to the Solar Observatory to Grout Bay
  • Stanfield Road cutoff from Big Bear Boulevard to North Shore Drive
  • Along the bike path
  • Boulder Bay

These are reportedly the best, but certainly not the only places to fish.  At 73,000 acre feet, Big Bear Lake is the largest man-made lake in the world and since we’ve revealed the best places to fish you’ll have an advantage for this weekend’s annual October Troutfest!

Tuesday, September 27Big Bear Farmers Market is still going strong at the Big Bear Convention Center. 7am-2pm. Goodies and fun!

Friday, September 30-Sunday, October 2– The one and only Big Bear Horri-FI Film Fest will be here.  If you love horror and sci-fi you will love this event.  It begins in Hollywood with a star studded gala full of cult favorites, then moves to Big Bear Lake for the rest of the weekend. Saturday and Sunday– Head on over to the #1 Oktoberfest in Southern California – the 41st Annual Oktoberfest at Big Bear Lake. This year expect an expanded bier (beer) garden, a Kindermeister party and plenty of dancing and food.

Saturday, October 1 and Sunday, October 2– Western Outdoor News brings us the 7th Annual Big Bear Lake Trout-Fest.  Since 2004, the Trout-Fest has been reeling in anglers from all over to compete and catch the tagged fish worth thousands in prizes.  There is still time to sign up for the event and to reserve your Big Bear Lake cabin!
