Big Bear Frontier is gearing up for one of Big Bear Lake’s largest and best fishing events, the 7th Annual Big Bear October Troutfest! The Troutfest is a two day trout fishing derby. Prizes are based on the five heaviest two day stringers taken in each of four divisions as well as the overall “big fish” award to the largest trout taken during the tournament. Entry is limited to 1,000 anglers so sign up early. We’ve done our research and found the best places to fish in Big Bear Lake, so you’ll want to explore those while you’re here. They might give you an advantage!
Troutfest is scheduled for October 1st and 2nd this year and we’re already booking rooms for the event. Those of you familiar with Troutfest will remember that it has sold out for the past three years, so if you’re thinking about a visit you’ll want to book your Big Bear Frontier cabin soon.
Big Bear Frontier, a Southern California mountain resort, offers rooms, studio cabins, one-, two-, and three- bedroom cabins and a luxurious five-bedroom cabin that will sleep 12, all within walking distance to the Troutfest activities! When you’re not fishing take pleasure in the indoor or outdoor Jacuzzis, year-round heated swimming pool, barbeque grills, ping pong tables, and Wi-Fi Internet access throughout the resort. Children love our clean, sandy beaches and the fresh, running stream that flows into Big Bear Lake. We are pet friendly so your animals can run and play on the beach, the grassy areas, and even swim in the lake.
The first 600 anglers who sign up for Troutfest will receive sponsor-provided goodie bags with a total value of around $40.00 each and all anglers who sign up will receive hats and a jar of YUM bait. All registered contestants can take part in Troutfest, the blind bogey contest, the Saturday afternoon BBQ, thousands of raffle prizes, and be eligible to win a $12,500 Klamath boat and Mercury motor at the Awards Ceremony.

There are lots of things to do for Seniors while visiting Big Bear. The village is just down the road if you like to shop. We have a wild animal zoo, walking trails, and just about every weekend there is a new event to enjoy. A coming event is the Antique Car Show on August 13. Stay tuned for our Blog on Thursday August 7 for all the information you need on the Car Show. We still have some rooms available for the weekend of the 13th.
