It was a very exciting time at Big Bear Lake last weekend; snow fell for the first time in a long time, and there is still fresh snow power hugging the mountains at Bear Mountain and Snow Summit. That’s a great way to start March, which has traditionally been the last month of playing in the snow up here. So, if you’re looking to get in that last fix before spring actually hits, strap on your board and head up to the mountains.
There is plenty of activity still happening on the mountains. The 18th Annual Victor Alvarez Memorial Race and Silent Auction this weekend does have one minor change; due to the warm temperatures, the actual race will NOT be held. But the party and the silent auction is continuing as normal! How do you cancel a good party for a great cause? The party will continue on Sunday, when Kongos, Bad Suns, and DJ Jeremiah Red help KROQ Storm Bear Mountain.
Not a fan of all this daytime slope time? This is the last weekend that Snow Summit is going to be offering their Night Sessions, and one of the last few weeks that Magic Mountain’s Alpine Slide is going to be open late. While it is not Olympic-luge fast, we still hear you can get some good speed built up on it!
Make sure you have your room booked with us. March is going to be hopping, with skiers, spring breakers, and in just over a week, St. Patrick’s Day revelers. We’ll keep you posted…as soon as we get off the slopes.
