It’s been a fantastic weekend in Big Bear with the 4th of July celebrations and the fireworks over the lake. We hope you all enjoyed your holiday, wherever you decided to spend it.

If you’re planning to visit us this week the temperatures will be warm but comfortable with lows reaching into the 50s at night, which is perfect sleeping weather! Come on up and enjoy!

Wednesday, July 6– High of 78° and a low of 55°. Thunderstorms in the evening with a 30% chance of rain.

Friday, July 8– High of 79 and a low of 52°.

Saturday, July 9– High of 78° and a low of 51°.

Sunday, July 10– High of 78° and a low of 50°.

What to Do

Wednesday, July 6– Today is the perfect day to go for a hike. Cougar Crest Trail in Big Bear Lake has the most breathtaking views in all of Big Bear. The hike is approx. 5 miles long with some pretty difficult spots here and there. If you like a challenge, Cougar Crest Trail is for you. Thursday, July 7– Every Thursday through September 1st head over to the Big Bear Discovery Center and take a leisurely 2-hour guided canoe tour of beautiful Big Bear Lake. After a quick paddling lesson, you will cruise along the shore looking for beavers, great blue herons and ducklings. Along the way you will learn the natural history of Big Bear Valley along with the various flora and fauna found in the area. For more information on canoe tours visit www.bigbeardiscoverycenter.com

Friday, July 8– Corvettes West’s Big Bear Bash 2011 is this weekend. There will be lots of great Vettes’ to check out and admire. Admission is FREE to all. Main event for public viewing of cars is the Participants Choice Car Show at the Bartlett Parking Lot Friday July 8th from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. www.corvetteswest.com

Saturday, July 9– Another big day for Corvettes West. Today’s events include a Low Speed Autocross at the Big Bear Airport from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Get your paddle on at the 4th annual Big Bear Paddle Fest, which includes clinics, races and vendor expo for canoes, kayaks, and stand up paddleboards on the South Shore of Big Bear Lake. The event is hosted by North Shore Trading Company and held at Meadow Park.

Big Bear Paddle Fest is a member of Open Air Big Bear and third in the Conquer the Bear/Conquer the Cub series of cross training races held throughout the year in Big Bear Valley. To register for this event visit www.bigbearpaddlefest.com

Sunday, July 10– Corvettes West Big Bear Bash 2011 winds down today with a Corvette Drive Around the Lake.

Monday, July 11– After the busy weekend what’s better than a peaceful walk through the Village of Big Bear Lake? Be sure to stop by The Gallery for the Plein Art Exhibit. You may even catch a glimpse of Actor Richard Moll. His work will be exhibited through the summer at the Gallery. Learn more at Big Bear Arts Council.
