Hollywood Comes to Big Bear with the International Film Festival

How would you like to rub shoulders with screenwriters, filmmakers, actors, celebrities and their honored guests? Visit Big Bear Lake, California from September 15-18, 2011,  and take part in the Big Bear International Film Festival.  This is the 12th year for the event, named one of MovieMaker magazine’s 25 Festivals Worth the Entry Fee.

About the Big Bear Lake International Film Festival

There are so many films in the competition that you’ll need to prioritize the categories that interest you.  Choose from:

  • Feature Films
  • Documentaries
  • Short Films
  • Student Films
  • High School Student Films
  • 3-D Showcase Short Films.

Many of the Feature Films have a Big Bear Connection such as Cold Cabin, Dealing, In the Woods, Intercession, and Shady Lane. The full film screening schedule is available so you can plan in advance!

The event is packed full of activities, beginning with a Filmmaker Networking Mixer on September 15, 2011 at 6:00 P.M.  After the V.I.P’s have the chance to meet this year’s attendees there will be an outdoor screening of “The Parent Trap” (1961 Version), starring Hayley Mills, which was shot in Big Bear at The Discovery Center. Check out the film festival’s Schedule of Events to be sure you don’t miss anything!

In this video the producers magically captured the beautiful scenery that draws our guests from around the world. And we love the festival’s tagline: “Works of beauty, shared in a beautiful place.” We couldn’t agree more!

Big Bear Frontier supports Film Festivals

Big Bear Frontier has a tradition of support for the International Film Festival and the Big Bear Horror Film Festival. Many of our guests during the week include festival goers, and they always rave at the quietness and comfort of Big Bear Frontier and the joy of being on the lakeside.  After a tough day of competing and being on stage all day, the quiet, cool breeze of the lovely pines is the place to be.

We welcome the film festival and our special festival guests. Watch our Facebook page for a deeper look at some of the great films that will be seen either at the Village Theatre or the Performing Arts Center.

Are you planning to come to the film festival this year? Reserve your Big Bear cabin or hotel room. And if you see anyone famous, let us know here! We’d love to hear from you.
