Monday, September 5– Stay out of the rain today and take the family to the Big Bear Bowling Barn. There is fun for the whole family with an arcade, snack bar, and a sports bar. Tuesday, September 6– Today would be a great day to go that movie you have been planning to see at one of two local movie theaters here in Big Bear. Wednesday, September 7– It promises to be a beautiful day today so take a cycling ride hosted by the Big Bear Cycling Association. These rides are for the serious bicyclist. For more information go to www.bigbearcycling.com
Thursday, September 8– The sun will be shining today so head over to the Moonridge Zoo. Big Bear’s one and only zoo houses rescued animals such as bears, wolves, raccoons and an assortment of reptiles. Oh my! Visit the zoo’s website for hours and entry information.
Friday, September 9- . Enjoy great dining, shopping, live entertainment, arts and crafts and more every Friday in Big Bear village during Friday Nights in the Village.
Saturday, September 10- 16th Check out the annual Harley Bike Run fundraiser for our Grizzly Bears. This event gets better very year! Open to the public and all bikes welcome! From 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM. enjoy a poker ride, prizes, vendors, BBQ and live music. Register at Chad’s Place in the Village 40740 Village Drive. All proceeds to benefit the Grizzly Bears at Moonridge Animal Park.
Also this weekend is the 2012 Miss Big Bear contest. From 5P.M- 10P.M, twenty young women from across Big Bear Valley will compete in this year’s scholarship competition. The young woman to win the title of Miss Big Bear will receive a $2,500 college scholarship! The 1st runner up will receive a $1000 scholarship, 2nd runner up a $750 scholarship, 3rd runner up will receive a $500 scholarship and the 4th runner up will receive a $250 scholarship. Contestants include: Kelly Anderson, Cara Burks, Ashley Chicca, Sarah Contreras, Brenda DeLaRosa, Shaylee Hall, Tara Hubbard, Nadia Jenkins, Annika Keeting, Megn Lona, Lauren McKinley, Hayley Natzic, Brianna Piper, Mikaela Powers, Carly Jo Reeves, Samara Rickman, Jennie Silva, Samantha Swanson, McKinzee Wolf, and Randynn Young.
The Miss Big Bear Competition dates back to the mid-1970’s. Prior to Miss Big Bear local girls competed in the Snow Queen competition. This year the Miss Bear Bear Pageant is inviting all Snow Queens to be a part of the festivities! Good luck to all the contestants!
