It’s only natural that we talk a lot about boating, after all, we are on a lake. We realize, though, that not everyone has their sea legs. So, this week we’re greasing up our bike chains and strapping on our helmets. Let’s push some pedals…
The weather this week will be great for bicycling! All week Big Bear will be experiencing highs in the 70’s with lows in the 50’s. There may be some scattered showers throughout the week. Warm enough to be comfortable, but not hot enough to be miserable while you’re pedaling uphill!
There are many events throughout the week for the bike lover in Big Bear, we picked just a handful to share with you.
We have a very active local organization, Big Bear Cycling, that hosts activities almost every day of the week.
Monday- Big Bear / Baldwin Lake Road Ride (intermediate)
Tuesday- Advanced Race Training Ride (advanced)
Tuesday- Women’s Only Road Ride (all levels)
Wednesday- Road Recovery Ride (all levels – mostly social)
Thursday- Community Time Trial
Thursday- Advanced Mountain Bike Ride (experienced ONLY)
Thursday- North Shore Mountain Bike ride (intermediate)
Hopefully, all of this pedaling gets you ready for the 4th Annual Tour de Big Bear! Held in the San Bernardino Mountains, all levels of riders can enjoy the 25, 50, 70 or 100 mile route. “The Village” plays host to many events with special rider privileges.
Tour de Big Bear weekend events include Friday packet pick-up, no-host pasta dinner, optional spectacular sunset dinner cruise on Big Bear Lake, and a Goldsprints Competition at Nottingham’s Tavern. Saturday’s post ride activities include: Cycling Expo. Blues for the Zoo concert – riders receive discounts on tickets to attend this annual lakeside event, Saturday evening Goldsprints Competition, pitting qualifies from earlier rounds against each other for final overall winners. A fun-filled weekend in Big Bear, California – sure to keep every level of rider entertained.
Last chance…helmet, check. Chains greased up, check. Water bottle, check. Air in the tires, check. Let’s go!
