St. Patrick’s Day and the March to Spring – What to do at Big Bear Lake

Green will be a big theme over the next few weeks at Big Bear Lake. The weather is getting warmer, and while the Southern California mountains will fight to keep the snow, Mother Nature is not cooperating. We have rooms available for St. Patrick’s Day, when we will all become a little Irish for the day. Big Bear Village and many of the restaurants will be celebrating the day, and if you look hard enough you might find some leprechauns frolicking in the mountains, or maybe just looking for some more gold to fill their pots. Next week will be the official start of spring, when the green really starts to come through.

The Weekend is Calling You to Big Bear

It is not just the big St. Patrick’s Day celebration bringing people to the mountains. The Big Bear Discovery Center will have a few family-friendly events: enjoy some free nature walks to learn about the local plants and animals. In addition, there is going to be live music playing throughout the mountain at Chad’s Place, Nottingham’s Tavern, B’s Boathouse, Diamond Lil’s Saloon, some jazz at the Wolf Creek Wine Room, and many other places in the Village and around the lake. Also be sure to head to Big Bear Lake Brewing Company for live entertainment, green beer and giveaways.

Take to the Slopes

As always, you can celebrate the holiday by hitting the slopes. The slopes will be busy as skiers and snowboarders flock to enjoy a full day of riding. It may also be one of the last chances of the year to get some snow under your board or skis, so come out and enjoy the slopes! When you are done on the snow, you can sit down, relax and enjoy a few drinks.
