Farewell to Summer – What to do in Big Bear Lake

Snowboarder
This is going to be happening this weekend. Be here.

We’ve noticed that the night air is getting a little crisper. Events and recreation that we enjoyed through the summer are drawing to a close. Labor Day is now well in the rear view mirror and the flavors at the local restaurants are going to pumpkins and apples. Fall in Big Bear is something you don’t want to miss. There are plenty of great events this weekend to look forward to as we pass of the torch from summer to fall, which officially starts on Saturday.

This Week at Big Bear Lake

Autumn Markets – Try Local Produce

There are only a few weeks left for the Big Bear Farmers Market, which closes on September 25th.  Buying local produce offers an amazing array of healthy benefits, like offering higher nutritional values, reduces waste and fuel use since the products are not shipped far, and keeps more money with local businesses. Their parent market, the High Desert Farmer’s Market, will be open until October, and has suggestions for recipes and examples of the products that will be offered. Take these last opportunities to get the freshest products from the Big Bear Lake region!

One Last Bass Cast – Fishing Tournament

Aaron’s will be having their last Big Bass Tournament of the season this Saturday, September 22nd. This is your last chance to win some big prizes on Big Bear Lake doing something you love while giving a little back to the community (10% of the entry fees goes into fish restocking). This is also a good opportunity to get ready for Troutfest, coming in just a few short weeks.

Hot Dawg!

That is right…as we wave goodbye to the summer, snowboarders are going to be competing at Bear Mountain for prizes and bragging rights, while putting on a clinic for those who want to learn what the leading edge of the sport has to offer. It is the 9th Annual Hot Dawgs and Handrails, and this event has been growing every year. Not only will there be the action on the snow, but off the snow Red Bull will be providing live music, DJs, contests for the spectators, food, and drink. This is also a final chance to get your snow passes for the season at a great rate!

This Saturday is the official end of summer and we are ready for all of the good times fall has to offer! Oktoberfest will be here for a few more weeks and it isn’t too soon to think about making your Big Bear reservations for the skiing and snowboarding vacations this winter!  We look forward to seeing you soon up in the alpine air!
