What to do this week:
Monday, June 27– The 8th Annual Carp Round-up is winding down today. It is always interesting to head down to the Big Bear Municipal Water District and see how many pounds of carp were taken out of our lake over the weekend. We express our thanks to the participants of this event as their efforts help to improve the swimming conditions of our lake.
Tuesday, June 28– Every Tuesday this summer visit the Big Bear Farmers Market at the Convention Center. More vendors arrive every week to sell their goods and it’s always fun to get a great bargain. The market opens at 8:30 A.M.
Wednesday, June 29– C.A.T.S. presents My Fair Lady at the Big Bear Lake Performing Arts Center at 7:30 P.M. Following encore performances on July 1, 2, 5, 6, 8, 9 at 7:30 PM and July 3, and 10 at 1:30 PM. Support our local players by coming down to the PAC of Big Bear. Thursday, June 30– Before the crowds arrive for the weekend spend today fishing, as it is always a fun and relaxing way to spend the day. Whether you decide to fish right off of our docks, head over to Stanfield Cutoff, or rent a boat and head to the dam, you are sure to catch something good to eat. We’ve researched the best places to fish in Big Bear so you’re sure to have a successful day.
Friday, July 1st– Start your holiday weekend off with Friday Nights in the Village. This fun event features live music, vendors, and an array of fortune tellers starting at 5 P.M.
Saturday, Sunday, Monday, July 2, 3 and 4– Big Bear Lake Independence Day Festival at the Big Bear Lake Convention Center. The three-day festival offers something for the entire family including a petting zoo, unique and hand-made arts, crafts and collectibles and live entertainment on the outdoor patio. Adults: $3; Children and Seniors: $2; Children 12 and under: FREE. Sat, July 2 and Sun, July 3 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Mon, July 4 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
The Pine Knot Village Art Walk is a self guided tour throughout the Shopping District and center of our community. 40 artists from around the region exhibit work for sale, live art demos and entertainment. Enjoy the clean mountain air and laid back atmosphere that makes this four season resort community a real getaway from the big city. Admission is free. Monday, July 4th– Come and share the biggest 4th of July fireworks display in Southern California with us. The fireworks are shot off from a barge on the lake directly off of Pine Knot Landing which is right next to Big Bear Frontier. Fireworks begin between 8:45-9:15 pm. You can view the fireworks from any of our public parks, or the best spot is from our beach. Make sure to bring a jacket or blanket because it can get chilly.
