This weekend the 3rd annual ‘Fishin’ for $50K Trout Derby’ could put $50,000 in your pocket.
From June 11 through June 12 there will be a total of 10 tagged trout planted in the lake including one fish worth the top prize of $50k. Prizes for the other nine fish include Big Bear lodging and adventure packages. There will be a $500 award given to the angler that catches the largest fish with Berkley Power Bait and each contestant receives a jar of Berkley PowerBait and a wristband good for discounts at participating Big Bear restaurants, shops and specialty services.
The fee to enter the tournament is $40 for adults age 16 and over. Youths 15 and under the fee is $25. Proceeds go toward keeping the lake stocked with fish.
Immediately following the tournament don’t miss the awards ceremony at 3 p.m. in the Big Bear Visitor Center parking lot. The ceremony will include a raffle with thousands of dollars worth of fishing gear and bait and tackle from national manufacturers. Prizes for tagged fish that have not been redeemed, with the exception of the $50,000 grand prize, will also be donated to the raffle.
