The Big Bear Renaissance Faire

The summer fun on Big Bear Lake continues on into the first three weekends of August with the  Big Bear Renaissance Faire, starting Saturday, August 1st.  Festivities will take place on Saturday and Sunday with food, entertainment and historical activities for the whole family to enjoy.

If you plan to attend and need a temporary chateau for one or all of the weekends, you can always find a comfortable space to hang your crown at the end of the day here at Big Bear Frontier.

Event Activities & Entertainment

You will find endless activities for all ages at this fun and cultural event! In fact, you might not know where to begin.

Knight Jousting

We suggest you start by meeting the knights by heading over to the Warriors Table at 11:30 a.m. Then you can watch them joust by heading over to the area from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Not for the faint in heart, festival knights decked out in shining armor harness the original horse power to speed towards opponents with full-sized wooden lances ready to claim victory in name of the Queen.

LIVE Acts & Pirate Entertainment

Not exactly your cup of mead? Head over with the family to the Great Square for good, old-fashioned fun. The square is where you’ll find a variety of entertainment acts, just watch out for the pirates! The high seas threat will be especially great the weekend of August 15th – 16th for Pirates Weekend.

Also experience the NEW Castle Maze, complete with giant slide for a fun finish! The second and third weekends in August will feature a wave of new games for all ages to enjoy, as well.

Afternoon Tea with the Queen

Want to have your own royal experience?  Buy a ticket for only$10 and join Queen Anne Bolynn for tea at 4 p.m.  You’ll be able to rub elbows with the Queen and other visiting medieval celebs while enjoying a feudal bite to eat.

The Bawdy Juggler & LIVE Music

For the adults in the group, make sure you catch The Bawdy Juggler.  The act mixes hilarious banter and amazing juggling feats.  If music is what you fancy for the day, the festival will be full of acts such as the singing pirates of Joust Kidding and Cutthroat Reef.

If you consider yourself a sophisticated steam punk, then make sure you attend the second weekend for Time Travelers weekend.

Big Bear Renaissance Faire Vendors & Shopping

There are merchant booths galore, too many to explore at this year’s Renaissance Faire.   One notable booth has a very local vibe.  You can relive the experience this winter after hitting the ski slopes with a cup of tea from Mountain Witch Tea Company.  You may have experienced the company’s refreshing iced teas at the Big Bear Chili Cook-Off.

Make sure you seek out a collectible 2015 Big Bear Ren Faire pin before they’re all gone and stop in at the many clothiers to find your official Renaissance garb.  If jewelry is what you’re seeking, you certainly won’t be disappointed.  Several vendors offer unique, hand-made items perfect for the statement piece you were missing.

Food Trucks & Dining at Big Bear Renaissance Faire

You won’t be discontented in the food offerings at the Faire! Indulge in tasty medieval-style cuisine like bratwursts and roasted turkey legs at the Boar’s Head Inn, plus, delicious crepes and more from Pirate Apparel.
