Big Bear Frontier is shifting gears for the Tour de Big Bear and invites cycling riders of all levels to stay with us for the big event! Watch for bicyclists passing our lodge Saturday, August 6th, 2011. The Tour de Big Bear will be in full swing from 8:00am-3:00pm. The Tour de Big Bear is a high altitude cycling tour in Big Bear Lake. This is a timed event for your individual training purposes. Safety is very important and the tour is prepared with three aid stations, course marshals and vehicles for medical needs and bike repair. Registration is $59 and includes pasta dinner at Nottingham’s Tavern, a cyclist goodie bag, a stage start and finish in the Village, detailed stage maps and turn-by-turn directions, two hydration stations, medals for tour finishers, a tshirt, entrance to the Cycling Expo, FREE Bike Valet Saturday in the village, and more! Cycling in Big Bear Lake
Enjoy some of the most spectacular cycling scenery in Southern California! Tour participants will enjoy riding some of the same roads as Stage 6 cyclists of the 2010 Amgen Tour of California. When selecting your route, be cautioned you will ride at an elevation between 7,000-8,500 feet! The air is very thin in Big Bear. Tour organizers warn that a “normal ride distance” at sea level will feel like double that same distance in our high altitude.
