Shopping in Big Bear

The weather is going to keep getting nicer, and you are going to want to spend more and more time out in it. Fortunately, the area is chock full of things to do. Festivals and other events are also in full swing, like The Village Wine Walk going on this Saturday. What To Do This Week in Big Bear Lake

Stroll through the Village

You might have explored all the scenic views, trails, and adventure that Big Bear Lake has to offer, but what about more leisurely pursuits? This weekend, take the time to wander through the Village at The Village Wine Walk, June 2 from 3:30 PM to 7 PM. You can explore all of the shops and restaurants, as well as enjoy appetizers at various places during the evening. Even better, part of the proceeds go to DOVES, a domestic violence prevention agency. Give to a good cause while exploring the local business scene…what a great way to spend a Saturday! There’s a limited number of tickets, so purchase your tickets online soon.

Hike through the mountains

If you have loftier aspirations, take the Twelve Trails of Big Bear challenge offered by the Big Bear Valley Trails Foundation. Just hike all twelve of the trails within a twelve mile radius of Big Bear Valley in the next twelve months to complete the challenge. You can even buy a t-shirt to mark off all of the trails you have finished, and support the foundation while you do it. There is plenty of exercise and plenty of awe-inspiring views to enjoy while you explore the natural beauty of the area.

Click through the zoo

The Big Bear Rescue Zoo (formerly Moonridge Animal Park) will be holding its annual photo contest again this year, but the rules have changed a little. You can submit photos taken from January 1 to June 30, 2012, but the zoo will offer a special photo op day on June 9 from 10 AM to 4 PM. There will be animals on display for you to photograph and interact with, and a feeding tour of the baby animals will be offered around 3 PM that day as well. The winners of all the categories, as well as three honorable mentions, will appear in the next year’s calendar! Be sure to check out the official rules for the photo contest.

With all of these activities, you will want to reserve a room with us so you have a place to rest, relax, and put down all of your bags after a fun afternoon of shopping and snacking! We look forward to seeing you this weekend at Big Bear Lake!
