Big Bear Lake is a wonderland of peace and relaxation in autumn as the leaves start to change colors and fall off of the trees. What to do this week in Big Bear
September 19-22– The lake is as beautiful as ever and it is the perfect time to go on a boat tour. There are three large guided boat tours on Big Bear Lake. The ‘Miss Liberty’ is docked at Pine Knot Landing. The ‘Big Bear Queen’ is docked at the Big Bear Marina and ‘The Time Bandit’ pirate ship launches right out of Holloways Marina. Another fun activity to do before the weather changes is to go on an invigorating hike. The National Forest surrounding the Big Bear Valley offers hundreds of miles of some of the most beautiful, serene hiking and mountain-biking trails in all of Southern California. Visit the Big Bear Discovery Center and learn about the best and most beautiful places to be to see the seasons change right before your own eyes.
Saturday, September 24– is National Public Lands Day at The Discovery Center. Story time will be from 12:30p.m-1:00p.m. There will be two guided tours between 1:00p.m and 2:30pm. led by a naturalist. Weekends through October 29 visit the 41st Annual Oktoberfest at the Big Bear Lake Convention Center. If you are visiting Big Bear during this event you definitely do not want to miss it!
The 8th Annual Hot Dawgs & Hand Rails will be underway this weekend. The event is sponsored by Red Bull and is a unique fall pro snowboarding competition that features some of the best freestyle pro-snowboarders that will battle for $15,000 on a one of a kind man-made Snow Park made of 110 tons of snow. This event starts at 2 p.m and runs until dark and is free to the public. We will be there interviewing and taking pics of the event throughout the day.
