St. Patrick’s Day and the March to Spring – What to do at Big Bear Lake

Snowman dressed as a leprechaun

The best of both worlds is what we are hoping for this weekend.

Green will be a big theme over the next few weeks at Big Bear Lake. The weather is getting warmer, and while the Southern California mountains will fight to keep the snow, Mother Nature is not cooperating. We have rooms available for St. Patrick’s Day, when we will all become a little Irish for the day. Big Bear Village and many of the restaurants will be celebrating the day, and if you look hard enough you might find some leprechauns frolicking in the mountains, or maybe just looking for some more gold to fill their pots. Next week will be the official start of spring, when the green really starts to come through.

The Weekend is Calling You to Big Bear

It is not just the big St. Patrick’s Day celebration bringing people to the mountains. The Big Bear Discovery Center will have a few family-friendly events: enjoy some free nature walks to learn about the local plants and animals, or come sit down and listen to the book “Little Brother Moose”! During the day you can also head over to Bear Mountain to check out the “Go Huck Yourself” snowboarding event presented by Analog. In addition, there is going to be live music playing throughout the mountain at Chad’s Place, Nottingham’s Tavern, B’s BoathouseDiamond Lil’s Saloon, some jazz at the Wolf Creek Wine Room, and many other places in the Village and around the lake.

Vegas Baby, Vegas!

The Convention Center at Big Bear Lake will be hosting the second annual Luck of the Irish Casino Night. You can enjoy food, dancing and gaming while supporting a good cause – proceeds for the night will be donated to the Singing Pines Education Center. You can save a little bit of money for the tables by buying your tickets in advance either through the school at (909) 866-2532 or the convention center at (909) 585-3000. For those that want to gamble for bigger stakes, there will also be a Texas Hold’em style tournament with prizes for the luckiest people at the table.

For Those About to (K)Roq

Have you been to Bear Mountain when KROQ has taken over? If you haven’t, you have a chance to get in on the action on St. Patrick’s Day. The slopes will be busy as skiers and snowboarders flock to enjoy live bands and a full day of riding. When you are done on the snow, you can sit down, relax and enjoy a few signature drinks at the resort bar. There will be prizes given away throughout the day. It may also be one of the last chances of the year to get some snow under your board or skis, so come out and enjoy the slopes!

It is going to be a great St. Patty’s weekend here at Big Bear Lake, and we want to see you up here enjoying the amazing weather AND some incredible skiing and snowboarding. Rooms are still available, but make your reservations soon! They will fill up quickly as the weekend approaches. Enjoy the rest of the week!
