The weather is perfect and at this time of year it’s all about the outdoors and snow in Big Bear California. Look for warmer temperatures during this first week of February, but then on Friday we’re expecting snow in Big Bear Lake, which will provide fresh powder for the slopes. Look for temperatures to drop into the teens at night and rise into the mid 30s over the weekend, with mostly sunny conditions.

January was an active month up here at Big Bear Lake, kicking off with some spectacular New Year’s Eve parties, an anniversary party for our friends at Snow Summit, nature walks, snow shoeing, the Peanut Butter and Rail Jam at Bear Mountain, among all of the other events going on at the Copper Q and other warmer activities. February promises to be just as active, with snowboarding and skiing events going on around the mountain, and of course Valentine’s Day! Next weekend will be a perfect time to bring your significant other up for a long weekend in the mountains. You both deserve it. Here are some things to do when you get here.

Uniform Days at Bear Mountain and Snow Summit
If you’re in uniform, Bear Mountain and Snow Summit would like to show their appreciation on February 6 and 7th by offering you a significant discount on lift tickets. Snowboarding and Skiing
This is prime skiing and snowboarding time here in Big Bear California and there’s no shortage of events. Starting on February 9 there’s the annual Go Huck Yourself event at Snow Summit . The cost is free and rules are to have fun. On February 10th there’s the USASA Slopestyle at Bear Mountain and the snowboarding event Goldsmith Race #3 at Snow Summit.
Coming up next weekend there’s the South Series Race at Snow Summit on February 16 and 17 and the famous Hot Dawgz and Handrails Qualifier at Bear Mountain on February 23. And don’t forget to train for the 6th Annual Snowshoe the Bear 5k and 10k challenge on February 23rd, which starts right in the village. Learn more at the official Snowshoe the Bear website.
There are plenty of things to do in the Village or at any of the local eateries too! Many restaurants feature live bands and karaoke and other activities that do not involve hitting the slopes. You can take cooking lessons or just enjoy walking through the quiet of the winter scenery. Big Bear Lake is the perfect place to get away from all the activity of the city.
